My friend Chad Binsfield explained to me once the role of a sniper and his scout/backup. Basically, the designated sniper takes the primary shot, and exfiltrates the location as quickly and quietly as possible. The scout/backup covers the rear on the pre-designated exfiltration route until the designated sniper can get into a position to place protection fire in support of the backup. I've read Carlos Hathcock's diaries where he did just that on several occasions.

My two cents? I'd love to team up with Binsfield on a sniper team any day, man...
