Photo of my Mom (at about age 4) with my Grandfather Floyd Randall (tall and center) and a family friend. This is probably 1946, north of Nashwauk, MN at Deer Camp on White Swan Lake, MN. I got my middle name from my Grandpa Floyd, and I never had the pleasure of meeting him. Floyd passed away just before I was born, unfortunately.
Note Grandpa Floyd's boots, which look like serious Danner Lineman Boots. Also note how they hung the deer, with wooden pegs through the rear leg tarsals. That is a good sized 8-pointer on the right.
Gotta love little Judy with her cute wool coat and very cute hat with her hand on the antler tine...
Judy's grand daughter, Anna, just saw this last Sunday and she said, "Yuck!" I tried to explain that it isn't "Yuck," it is success. I wish they posed with their rifles. |
