Sibley Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada - The
Sleeping Giant
August, 2001
Lorna and I had a real blast here. When
we checked in with the park Ranger, we asked about their
rules regarding setting up camp at non-designated
campsites. She looked at us funny and asked why. We said
we were wondering in case all the designated sites were
taken when we reached campsites in the late afternoon or
evening. The Ranger said, "Ya know, eh? There are
only 6 people registered in the entire park right
now." There are 64 kilometers of trails, and 40
backcountry campsites within the park. It was mid-August,
I think, and apparently nobody was around. Lorna and I
stared at her for her about 20 seconds, and we both
finally said, "Cool!" I gave her a $20 bill for
our entrance and two-night camping fee, and got about
$97.00 of Canadian "Northern Pesos" money back
in change. |
